David is Director and Principal Landscape Architect of Moir Landscape Architecture.

With over 22 years experience David has acquired extensive knowledge in the field of landscape architecture and urban design. He has been directly involved in over 2000 projects throughout Australia, Asia, and the Middle East.

David’s areas of expertise include visual impact assessment, urban placemaking and revitalisation, inclusive play design and vegetation and habitat management.

Since establishing the company in 2001 David has been involved in the design and implementation of some of the regions iconic locations including all abilities Lake Macquarie Variety Playground at Speers Point, Merewether Baths Renewal and the recently completed Richley Reserve Playground at Blackbutt.

David is a well respected professional in the field of Visual Impact Assessment and has provided expert witness and advice on significant and complex proposals including the Rocky Hill Coal Mine at Gloucester and the proposed Star Casino tower at Pyrmont. With considerable knowledge and experience in the assessment of landscape character assessment and the research and consultation around understanding cultural values associated with landscapes, David has particular expertise in the assessment of Infrastructure, Wind Farm and Renewable Energy projects in regional and rural areas throughout Australia.

David has previously been a member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects National Council. He is currently a member of the UDIA Newcastle Urban Renewal Advisory Panel and the City of Newcastle Liveable Cities Committee.
