The Roche Group commissioned Moir Landscape Architecture to carry out the design and documentation of the Appletree Grove Estate, a residential subdivision in Lake Macquarie comprising of approximately 2,000 lots on more than 300ha.
From concept through to construction, the scope of works included Vegetation Management Plans, treatment of detention basin, street tree plans as well as roadside features and planting.
A historic Tramway Corridor runs through the Estate and the project involved collaboration with local engineers and heritage consultants to produce an end result that reflects this significant industrial history once present on site.
The Tramway Reserve entry feature recapture its transport function through the creation of a pedestrian pathway and cycleway, linking with other pathways and cycleways within, and external to the estate. A detailed pavement design at road thresholds incorporated custom timber bollards and remnant tram tracks.
