Moir Landscape Architecture were engaged by Cessnock City Council to undertake the Master Planning for Bridges Hill in Cessnock. Through the Master Plan, funding was obtained by Council to construct this significant city scale playground. We have continued with the documentation of Stages 1 to 4 of the Bridges Hill Park Playground and recreational facilities upgrade.
Our aim for the project was to create a beautiful, safe space with a mix of engaging play experiences that encouraged children to explore. The design includes fitness stations, a basket-ball court, nature play areas, custom-designed tunnels, slides, climbing elements, and a bike path.
As the playground is located on a hill, great care was taken to resolve the path and play levels to maximise accessibility.
Stages 1 and 2 of the playground opened in September 2019 and has been very well received by the public.
