Moir Landscape Architecture prepared the Landscape Master Plan for the new co-educational Catholic college in Medowie, which includes a chapel; an early learning centre; a primary school; and a high school accommodating a total of 1200 students. The precinct, currently under construction, will be completed in six stages over eight years.
The first stage opened in January 2021, with stage 2 near completion. The ecology of the site was altered from a rural residential site thus great consideration was given within the master plan to limit the impacts on the surrounding ecology as well as bush fire protection zone and Aboriginal cultural heritage elements.
As a modern campus there is considerable greenspace within the school grounds and it is proposed that key arrival areas, movement corridors, outdoor learning areas and classroom breakout areas are well shaded and appealing places with tree canopy being a key contributor to reduce ambient temperatures.
