Moir Landscape Architecture were engaged by The Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle to design and document the outdoor spaces, entry and carpark at St Nicholas Early Education Centre in Branxton.
Throughout the duration of the project, our focus was to create engaging play zones for the children to experience, explore, discover, take risks and solve problems, in support of the centre’s play-based learning curriculum.
The landscape design provides safe and inviting spaces which encourages children of all abilities and various infant ages to engage with the natural environment and be physically active.
The immersive natural outdoor space includes a range of play areas such as large sandstone sandpits, mud kitchen, tee pees and totems, amphitheatre, bicycle tracks and garden beds.
An attractive entry to the facility and treatment to the carpark completes the design of this new long day care.
