Moir Landscape Architecture undertook the design and documentation of the outdoor spaces of this new aged-care facility in Elermore Vale. This included integrating the storm water management with the landscape on site and providing significant visual screening to adjoining properties.
The dementia care facility courtyard was carefully designed with the specific needs of these residents in mind. Planters with vegetables allow residents to participate in the gardening to aid with relaxation and motor skill retention, and a post box and phonebooth were incorporated to stimulate familiar memories and promote a feeling of safety and security.
A further 2 courtyards were designed at the facility providing a variety of seating options for the occupants and their visitors, from quiet corners to more sociable spaces where they can interact with family and other residents.
